Rated 5 out of 5 by fishrmn1961 from I was skeptical of the no drill mount The hydrofoil works great. The boat gets on plane much quicker. I have one of the older (drill mount) models on my old boat and I have been very happy with it. I was skeptical of the no drill mount but I put this on a new boat and did not want to drill the new motor.

I had to cut away a little material from the inside center of the hydrofoil to make it fit snug on my 75 hp Mercury. I took the boat on a 7 day camping & fishing trip and checked the hydrofoil daily.

It stayed snug and didn't move at all. I normally run about 5800rpm with this on the best I could manage was5100 rpm Lost 7 mph AND propisited terribly when trying to trim engine up.

Not to mention the set screw bushing came loose before it was even tightened. So I drilled it on the motor complete waste of time and money would absolutely not recomenned this product even to an enemy. Microsoft patch database installation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Nastyfish from Great! Installed on my Tracker Grizzley 1860 with Merc 90 to eliminate porpoising at higher trim levels, and it worked well! Steering control remains responsive (the boat did well even before) and I gained an extra 4mph. An added benefit is that I can get on plane in less than three feet of water. Push the throttle and off I go, the transom doesn't dig into the water column.

My advice is to not use the set screws, it's essentially a friction fit. There's too much force being applied with larger motors. Drill two holes, and bolt it in with the supplied stainless bolts.

StingRay XRIII Installation Instructions: WARNING: WITH ALL ENGINE INSTALLATIONS, ENSURE BOAT ENGINE IS OFF, KILL SWITCH IS DISENGAGED, AND GEAR SHIFT IS IN NEUTRAL POSITION. Make sure all installation hardware installation hardware is included: two (2) bolts, two (2) self-locking nuts, and two (2) speed caps. Remove the torque tab from the underneath the cavitation plate. Slide the StingRay XRIII onto the cavitation plate as far forward as possible. Reattach the torque tab with the StingRay XRIII still in place so that the torque tab clamps the hydrofoil in place. If the hydrofoil can be moved from side to side on the cavitation plate, insert the two (2) bolts from the bottom up through the slots in the front of the hydrofoil. There is no need to drill through the cavitation plate!

These bolts are only used to eliminate the side to side play of the installed hydrofoil. Use the two (2) self-locking nuts to attach the bolts. The white side of the nuts should be facing upwards. Use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the bolts. After bolts are tightened, place the two (2) speed caps into the two slots to cover up the attached nuts and bolts.
