Jan 06, 2009 An updated 'Best Antivirus' for 2009. Please use this as a reference when researching antivirus utilities. As time goes on, the poll can be updated to add f. Consumer Reports lists Avast as the best antivirus for free, followed closely by Avira AntiVirus. The best paid are Eset and G Data. Since I don't have thorough.

Hey all, very new to the website but I've read numerous threads on 'AntiVirus 2009' but have not really found an identical problem that I am having. I own a Toshiba laptop (little over 2 yrs old) and just got what I thought was a virus on it about a week ago. I took it to a professional who removed it, and everything was fine. But about 2 days ago, I started getting the pop-up dialog box that says that my computer may be infected and I should download AntiVirus 2009. I always hit cancel because a friend of mine downloaded this before and it wreaked havoc on his computer. When I hit 'cancel' a pop-up IE site pops up that looks like its performing a scan on my computer.

I click the 'x' at the top and sometimes another pop-up dialog appears telling me it 'detected possible infections' and when I click cancel or the 'x', a download pops up asking me to 'run' 'save' or cancel. I click cancel and the process ends.

I've never actually downloaded it, given them a credit card, or anything of the sort. How can I remove it so I am never prompted with any of these pop-ups again? Again, I know there are many threads on this subject and I really appreciate the help! See the other thread for instruction from Marianna Schmudlach I had the same problem, but I did not see this thread then. Try the instruction and see if that fixes your problem. My infection prevented me from running Malwarebyte mbam and other spy scanner. I was able to get Spyhunter to run, which disabled the trojan enough to let me run mbam.

Antivirus Review

The free version of Spyhunter will only detect, not remove, but it did disable the trojan so I can run mbam and spybotsd. I also tried Avira System Recovery Rescue CD, but it did not work for me (it worked for some, perhapse the trojan mutated). They do update a few times a day, maybe it will work with later updates. Also, I suggest using another PC to download the software, and transfer the sw via flash drive to the infected system. ' I always hit cancel because a friend of mine downloaded this before and it wreaked havoc on his computer.' Just a note, before making any suggestions, as to what I think will help. I would be leery about clicking 'cancel', or trying to close it by clicking on the 'Red X'.

Program

Depending upon what it is, you might, inadvertently wind up initiating the download. If it happens again in the future, it might be best to click 'ALT + F4', or right-click on the Taskbar and select 'close' from the menu. If it's not in the Taskbar, opening the Task Manager and shutting down the process from there would also achieve the same goal.

It's only my personal opinion, but I would try the below before trying SpyHunter. There's been some question, as to their reputation. You can read more about Enigma Software. Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from or Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish. If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.

Once the program has loaded, select Perform Quick Scan, then click Scan. The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.

When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results. Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart (see Extra Notes below). The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM. Extra Note:.If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

10 Best Antivirus Program

Norton Antivirus 2010 is my personal choice and as my website is based on virus removal and prevention, you can trust my answer. Seriously though, the reasons I like Norton 2010 is mainly down to the fact it has insight protection. Known good files aren't scanned, meaning that the scan time is around 20mins or so. The known good files stand at around 60 million and known bad ones are at around 11.5 million at the moment (and counting).

(when you click Details beside where it says Insight Protection, you can see the progress) It also has very detailed and easy to understand results pages. And its also very, very light. I currently use it and love it. Actually Norton doesn't slow your PC down in the slightest (unless you have 512MB Ram or less that is). And you don't have to be techy to be able to understand it. It may look daunting at first, but everything is clearly laid out and well explained.

Adobe photoshop cs5 free download. Also, I really wouldn't use Trend Micro. I haven't tried it lately although the latest UI looks very unprofessional. It actually looks like a rogue, even though it isn't.

Here is a thorough review of Trend Micro And a thorough review (on the same site) of Norton Anyway, I'm more than happy with Norton as what its antivirus doesn't catch, the sonar will. I haven't felt the need to switch with something else since I made the switch over to Norton 2010.
